Homestay
If you have multiple pets, an older or particular pet, or you just like some added security when you leave home, this is perfect for you.
What happens?
That’s a direct question. We like that. One of our staff will stay in your home, caring for your pets just as you would. They’ll live in your home and assume a schedule as close to yours as possible. Your pet’s lives will change as minimally as possible.
How do I book?
Just call us. Or email us. If we haven’t already met your dog, we’ll schedule a consultation at your home so that we do. We’ll learn about the feeding habits, exercise level, personality and temperament of your pet(s) so that we can create the best experience possible.
Anything else?
We’ll even water plants and bring in your mail. Even your home won’t notice you’re not there.
Home-style
Your favourite pooch will stay with one of our staff. It's a home environment—with a couple of extra canine friends.
What’s the deal?
The dogs aren’t crated—unless that’s what you’d prefer and it’s the practice at home, in which case we’ll use yours. The dogs get out for three or four walks a day—depending on their energy levels and capabilities. They’ll come home happy and exhausted.
How many dogs will my dog be staying with?
A maximum of three.
What sort of dogs will my dog be staying with?
We meet every dog before we agree to board one. We don't accept aggressive dogs. As much as possible, we balance the personality and energy levels.
What will my dog eat?
You provide the food along with any of your dog’s favourite toys or bedding.
How does my dog get there?
We pick up. And we’ll drop off. Right from your home and back again. When you call to book, we’ll arrange the pick-up time and drop-off time. If you’re not going to be home, A Leg Up can easily arrange to keep a key.
How do I book?

A Leg Up North
Farms are traditionally places where a lot of work is done—by people and animals. So, maybe this is more like a chilled-out cottage.
Where is it?
A Leg Up North sits on beautiful rolling acreage in Hockley Valley.
What’s the deal?
Just like our HOME-STYLE boarding, the dogs aren’t crated—unless that’s what you’d prefer if it’s the practice at home, in which case we’ll use yours. The dogs stay in a home overnight and periodically during the day. When it isn’t nap time, they have a fully-fenced yard right outside the house—and then a field and a pond just past a winding trail. They’ll come home happy and exhausted.
What will my dog eat?
You provide the food along with any of your dog’s favourite toys or bedding.
How does my dog get there?
That’s the other beautiful part. We pick up. And we’ll drop off. Right from your home and back again. When you call to book, we’ll arrange the pick-up time and drop-off time. If you’re not going to be home, A Leg Up can easily arrange to keep a key.
